OPENING Song | Promises

Verse 1

God of Abraham,
You’re the God of covenant and of faithful promises
Time and time again
You have proven You'll do just what you said

Pre-Chorus

Though the storms may come and the winds may blow
I'll remain steadfast
And let my heart learn when
You speak a word it will come to pass

Chorus

Great is Your faithfulness to me
Great is Your faithfulness to me
From the rising sun, to the setting same
I will praise Your name
Great is Your faithfulness to me

Verse 2

God from age to age,
Though the earth may pass away,
Your word remains the same
Your history can prove there's nothing You can't do,
You're faithful and True

Bridge

I put my faith in Jesus
My anchor to the ground
My hope and firm foundation
He'll never let me down

The Invitatory

OPENING SENTENCE OF SCRIPTURE

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

COLOSSIANS 3:1

CONFESSION OF SIN

Let us humbly confess our sins to Almighty God.

Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and apart from your grace, there is no health in us.

O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare all those who confess their faults. Restore all those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to all people in Christ Jesus our Lord; And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may now live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of your holy Name. Amen.

Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE PASSING OF THE PEACE

The peace of the Lord be always with you;
And with your spirit.

Praise the Lord.
The Lord’s name be praised.

Psalm 84 (New Coverdale)

1      How lovely are your dwellings, *

         O Lord God of hosts!

2      My soul has a desire and longing to enter into the courts of the Lord; *

my heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God.

3      Indeed, the sparrow has found her a house, and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young, *

even your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.

4      Blessed are they who dwell in your house; *

they will be always praising you.

5      Blessed is the one whose strength is in you, *

in whose heart are your ways,

6      Who going through the valley of misery uses it for a well; *

indeed, the early rains fill the pools with water.

7      They will go from strength to strength, *

and the God of gods shall be seen by them in Zion.

8      O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; *

         hearken, O God of Jacob.

9      Behold, O God, our defender, *

and look upon the face of your Anointed.

10    For one day in your courts *

         is better than a thousand;

11    I would rather be a door-keeper in the house of my God *

than dwell in the tents of ungodliness.

12    For the Lord God is a light and defense; *

the Lord will give grace and honor, and no good thing shall he withhold from those who live a godly life.

13    O Lord God of hosts, *

blessed is the one who puts his trust in you.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

THE FIRST LESSON | Malachi 3:1-4 (NKJV)

“Behold, I send My messenger,
And he will prepare the way before Me.
And the Lord, whom you seek,
Will suddenly come to His temple,
Even the Messenger of the covenant,
In whom you delight.
Behold, He is coming,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

“But who can endure the day of His coming?
And who can stand when He appears?
For He is like a refiner’s fire
And like launderers’ soap.
He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;
He will purify the sons of Levi,
And purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer to the Lord
An offering in righteousness.

“Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem
Will be pleasant to the Lord,
As in the days of old,
As in former years.

This is the Word of The Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Canticle | The Greatest Commandment

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind
And love your neighbor as yourself

Let us be known, let us be known
By the way we love

Love, love, love
The greatest commandment is love

THE SECOND LESSON | Revelation 2:8-11 (NKJV)

“And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write,

‘These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life: “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy ofthose who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” ’

This is the Word of The Lord.
Thanks be to God.

THE APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Prayers & Collects

The Lord be with you;
And with your spirit.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be your Name.
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
And deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours,
Now and forever. Amen.

O Lord, show Your mercy upon us;
And grant us Your salvation.
O Lord, guide those who govern us;
And lead us in the way of justice and truth.
Clothe your ministers with righteousness;
And make Your chosen people joyful.
O Lord, save Your people;
And bless Your inheritance.
Give peace in our time, O Lord;
And defend us by your mighty power.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten;
Nor the hope of the poor be taken away.
Create in us clean hearts, O God;
And take not your Holy Spirit from us.

THE Collect for the Fifth SUNDAY of Epiphany

O Lord, our heavenly Father, keep your household the Church continually in your true religion, that we who trust in the hope of your heavenly grace may always be defended by your mighty power; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

THE SECOND COLLECT, FOR PEACE

O God, the source of all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works: Give to your servants that peace which the world cannot give, that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments, and that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest and quietness, through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

THE THIRD COLLECT, FOR AID AGAINST ALL PERILS

Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord; and by your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of your only Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE GOSPEL | John 15:26-16:4 (NKJV)

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John, Chapter 15, beginning at the 26th verse.
Glory be to you, O Lord.

“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

“These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me. But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them.

“And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.

This is the Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you, O Christ.

OFFERTORY HYMN | I LOVE TO TELL THE STORY

VERSE 1

I love to tell the story of unseen things above
Of Jesus and His Glory
Of Jesus and His Love
I love to tell the story because I know 'tis true
It satisfies my longings
As nothing else can do

CHORUS

I love to tell the story
'Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old old story
Of Jesus and His love

VERSE 2

I love to tell the story
More wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies
Of all the golden dreams
I love to tell the story
It did so much for me
And that is just the reason
I tell it now to thee

CHORUS

I love to tell the story
'Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old old story
Of Jesus and His love

VERSE 4

I love to tell the story
For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting
To hear it like the rest
And when in scenes of glory
I sing the new new song
'Twill be the old old story
That I have loved so long

CHORUS

I love to tell the story
'Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old old story
Of Jesus and His love

Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Concluding Prayers

A PRAYER OF GENERAL THANKSGIVING

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.

And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honour and glory throughout all ages. Amen.

A PRAYER OF SAINT CHRYSOSTOM

Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time, with one accord to make our common supplications to you; and you have promised through your well beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will grant their requests: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen.

THE GRACE

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen.

2 CORINTHIANS 13:14

Closing Song | There is A name

Verse 1

There is a name
Who reigns without contention
Whose power can’t be questioned or contained
With humble fame
He rules the earth and heavens
His glory knows no measure or refrain
And it’s bursting past the border lines of space

Chorus

Jesus
Enthroned upon the praises of our hearts
Jesus
You’re the King and You’re the center of it all

Verse 2

There is a name reaching past the margins
Calling sons and daughters back to Him
And as He saves
We can hear the roar of Heaven
As prodigals are coming home again
Oh the triumph of His name will never end

Chorus

Jesus
Enthroned upon the praises of our hearts
Jesus
You’re the King and You’re the center of it all

(REPEAT)

Bridge

For every eye will see
Every heart will know
There is no name above the name of Jesus
Death could not hold Him down
No grave could keep Him bound
All sin and sickness bow to the name of Jesus

(REPEAT)

To the name of Jesus

Chorus

Jesus
Enthroned upon the praises of our hearts
Jesus
You’re the King and You’re the center of it all

(REPEAT)

Ending

There is a name
Who reigns without contention
Whose power can’t be questioned or contained
